A pastor with Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dete appeared
before a magistrate court for allegedly raping a 22-year-old married
woman who is a member of his church.
It was gathered that
the pastor, identified as Reginald Sibanda invited the woman to his
place under the pretext there was a vacant post of a secretary at his
gardening project.
Pastor Sibanda told the unsuspecting woman who had expressed interest in the job that he was coming to pick her.
At about 4pm on the said day, the accused was said to have picked up the woman from her house.
After
arriving at the pastor's residence, he locked the doors of his car and
informed the woman that there was no such vacancy. He then professed
undying love to the married woman which she turned down.
He then went on to fondle the woman's breast, after which he forcefully undressed her, wore a condom and raped her.
According to report, the pastor threatened the victim to keep quiet about the incident or face dire consequences.
However,
the lady was said to have reported the matter to her husband who
alerted the ministerial pastor. It was the ministerial pastor who asked
the woman to report to the police, which she did.
Sibanda was arrested, charged with rape and brought before Hwange magistrate, Mrs Dambudzo Malunga.
He however denied the allegations leveled against him and claimed that he was madly in love with the married woman.
Mr Sibanda was however remanded out of custody and the case was adjoined to 14 November 2013 for continuation of trial
