The news of disasters, terrorism and other ominous events, as reported daily by the news media, spread an uneasy sense of insecurity and apprehension in the hearts of many around the world. But as a believer, instead of cringing in fear and hoping that somehow things will change, you ought to recognize and function in your high place of authority in Christ, "over and above every government and authority and power and lordship and every name that is constantly being named..."(Ephesians 1:21 Wuest New Testament Translation). God has given us so much authority, but we have to come to a place of knowledge and understanding of the Word. We have to learn how to exercise our authority in Christ and effect changes in His Name. We�re not helpless or hamstrung. The Lord Jesus told us in Matthew 18:19-20: "...If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.� By "two or three,� He meant that even the smallest assembly, where only two or three are gathered, can come together to change anything! He didn�t say they needed to have enough faith; all that�s required is for them to come together and agree for a change. We speak for Jesus in the earth; therefore, we shouldn�t be quiet. If there are negative circumstances we don�t like, we can change them. There�s so much power in the Church, but we can�t discover the extent and potency of the power we possess with our mouths shut. For that power to be effective, we�re going to have to open our mouths and pray, and declare what we want to see in our world.
