Nicki Minaj, Rihanna lead AMA noms
Say what you will about her "American Idol" issues, but Nicki Minaj is poised to be a potential big winner at this year's American Music Awards.
Minaj and Rihanna lead the 2012 group of nominees with four nods a piece.
Minaj is nominated in the Favorite Hip-Hop/Rap Artist category as well as the Favorite Pop/RockFemale Artist category, and her album "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" is up to win in both the Favorite Pop/Rock Album category and the Favorite Hip-Hop/Rap Album category.
Rihanna's "Talk that Talk" is nominated in the Favorite Soul/R&B Album category, and she's also in the running to win in the Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist category; the Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist category; and Artist of the Year category.
For the latter award, Rihanna will compete against pal Katy Perry as well as Maroon 5, Drake and Justin Bieber.
